1 Peter: A Study of Hope in a Time of Suffering
In the midst of all of the uncertainty in this world, the book of 1 Peter offers incredible reminders of our living hope — that because of Jesus, no matter what we are going through on this earth, we have a future home in heaven with our God. It’s my hope that your time in 1 Peter is both challenging and encouraging. Challenging to your soul to live according to the call to be Holy even in the midst of chaos, but also encouraging to your heart as you find rest in God’s Word and the steadfast promise that God gives grace upon grace even in the messiness of your daily life as well as hope for an eternity with Him.
It’s our third week in 1 Peter and we’ll be studying Chapter 3! In this chapter, Peter continues to address different aspects of living out our faith, especially in the midst of suffering. As you prepare for studying 1 Peter 3 this week, spend some time in prayer, talking to God and asking Him to speak to your heart as you read His Word and dig into this chapter.
It’s Week 2 in 1 Peter and we’re studying Chapter 2! My challenge to you is to read through all of Chapter 2 at least once. I think it’s important to take time to read the entire chapter in one sitting so that you can get a proper feel for the big picture, before you dig in to try and understand what God is speaking directly into your life.
I’m so excited to continue digging into 1 Peter with you this month! It feels so timely and encouraging in this season of chaos and uncertainty with living through a pandemic that has completely halted our “normal” daily lives. This week, we’re going to focus in on 1 Peter 1. I would encourage you to read through Chapter 1 several times this week, but also focus in on smaller passages each day.
Living in lockdown can seem quite overwhelming. Life has changed drastically for everyone in such a short amount of time! In the midst of all of this uncertainty, I paused in the book of 1 Peter recently, and felt as though it was speaking directly to my heart and my circumstances over the past few weeks! It’s my hope that our time together in 1 Peter over this next month is both challenging and encouraging — most of our study will be virtual, happening via Instagram posts and stories (follow along with us at @bespokegrace).
